Project description
Located in Outremont, the Querbes residence involves the complete renovation of a single-family home built in the early 20th century. From the first visit to the site, the unique features of the residence became an integral part of the project's conceptual direction. Indeed, architectural elements such as the staircase, plaster moldings and fireplace mantel were to be preserved and highlighted.
Formerly partitioned, the kitchen now opens onto the dining room as well as the other living spaces on the ground floor. One of the major interventions is the relocation of the access leading to the basement. In order to respect the classic style of the staircase, the new access is now integrated in continuity with the original structure.
Clear and simple, the kitchen becomes the key element of the open area. The use of gray enhances the unique texture of the natural stone. The combination of lacquer and marble countertop creates an atmosphere with sober tones. The stone-covered peninsula gives the impression of a ribbon wrapping around the cabinets and creates the effect of a block from the point of view of the entrance.
