Job Description
At Vives St-Laurent, the architectural technologist plays a central role within the team. He or she supports project managers in carrying out residential and commercial projects, contributing to both technical rigor and design quality.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about construction, attention to detail, and solving technical problems, and who wants to grow in a collaborative, stimulating, and people-oriented environment.
The position combines coordination, technical development, and active participation in the management of a variety of projects. The technologist contributes to all stages of the project, from the initial analysis through to the construction site.
Tasks – Techniques
Take measurements
Conduct regulatory analysis
Participate in the development of concepts and technical solutions
Produce preliminary drawings, permit drawings, and construction drawings
Develop construction details
Create 3D models (SketchUp)
Prepare project kickoff presentations
Coordinate drawings with engineers and other professionals
Review shop drawings and incorporate feedback as needed
Research materials, products, and building systems
Ensure documents comply with the Quebec Building Code and applicable regulations
Produce technical drawings using AutoCAD
Continuously develop the firm’s graphic and technical standards
Help plan and monitor schedules
Prepare permit applications and follow up with municipalities
Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and consultants
Participate in coordination meetings with team members
Conduct site visits and document the progress of the work
Identify technical issues and propose appropriate solutions
Maintain proactive communication with clients and stakeholders
DEC in Architectural Technology or equivalent education
Technical Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Knowledge of Revit (a plus)
Proficiency in SketchUp
Strong proficiency in the Adobe suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
Good knowledge of the Quebec Building Code and construction methods
Experience in preparing plans for permits and construction
General Skills
Excellent command of spoken and written French; functional English
Team player, self-motivated, and proactive
Strong organizational skills andability toprioritize
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of local suppliers and manufacturers
Positive attitude, attention to detail, and solution-oriented
A driver’s license is required
Terms and Conditions
Full-time Position – RMaternity leave replacement (approximately 12 months)
