Project description

The Vives St-Laurent interior design studio has completed the offices of the Dime organization. Based in Montreal, the company contributes to the influence of the skateboarding community through the production of videos, clothing, and collaborations with renowned brands.

The mandate focused on relocating the clothing warehouse and conceptualizing a workspace for their team. The company's new headquarters are located in the heart of the former industrial district of Mile-End. Airy and simple, the space includes several open and closed areas, allowing for collaboration. At the entrance to the suite is a large common area including the cloakroom, lounge and kitchen.

"We wanted the kitchen to be at the heart of the space to be used as a meeting place between the different teams. We concealed the equipment in order to obtain a minimal kitchen and undo the traditional codes of the office space," explains Lysanne St-Laurent, Co-Founder at Vives St-Laurent. The design of the kitchen is thus focused on the large steel island table, an informal meeting space and a place for the team to socialize.

Connected to the entrance and the kitchen are two meeting rooms of different sizes. The larger one, with a capacity of ten to twelve people, is designed to facilitate daily reviews by the design and development team. The second has a flexible and modular layout to suit the team's needs. It is composed of a sofa, an accent chair and a table for four people. The use of residential-style furniture accentuates the comfort of the room and contributes to the relaxed atmosphere of the office. Indeed, the team members participated in a preliminary survey produced by the design team.

It emerges that Dime is a fun, progressive and relaxed company. It is possible to see in the space the artifacts and derivative products collected over the years: shoes, construction helmets, photographs, trophies and sculptures adorn the place. The office thus becomes a neutral canvas to let the personality of the brand speak, renowned for its humor and innovative concepts.

The integration of vintage pieces such as the Roche Bobois sofa, mid-century style tables and chairs, and the rosewood bookcase, creates a unique and sophisticated atmosphere. These unique pieces contrast with the contemporary furniture selected by Vives St-Laurent. An open work area unfolds along the large bay windows of the single-story building facing the mountain. This area leads to three closed rooms: two offices and a meeting room. Hidden by the technical block, the design area is a vast workshop-type space, including a large table for measuring patterns, a materials library and clothing racks.

The sober aesthetic of the head office reveals the industrial essence of the place, while bringing a personalized touch that reflects the company's values, based on a culture that promotes a collaborative and family environment, which values commitment and participation (clan culture). Dime offers a place that promotes the creativity and development of its team.
