Project description
The Vives St-Laurent studio presents their latest interior project, the renovation of an apartment on Saint-Hubert Street in Montreal. In this area of the Plateau Mont-Royal, a number of Victorian-style houses were built in the late 19th century. Curved walls, moldings and high ceilings lend a unique character to the place, which is defined by the enfilade organization of the rooms. This particular existing layout dictated the design team's orientations for the development of the project.
The main objective of the project is to renovate two spaces: the kitchen and the shared bathroom. The space behind the kitchen was also reorganized, with the addition of a bar serving both as a coffee corner and an extra counter for receptions. Finally, the design of a bespoke wooden desk, conducive to telecommuting, matches the various pieces of mid-century furniture selected by the owners.
