Project description

Located in southwest Montreal, along the Lachine Canal, the Saint-Henri project is housed in a residential building constructed in the early 2000s. Bathed in natural light thanks to generous windows, the apartment revealed strong potential, enhanced by a complete renovation of the various areas.

Devoid of original character and moldings, the condo offered a blank canvas, allowing for a complete redesign of all spaces while respecting certain structural and technical constraints. The goal was to improve the flow, consistency, and usability of the spaces, while emphasizing the special relationship with the outdoors.

The project includes replacing the floors, refurbishing the kitchen and two bathrooms, adding a walk-in closet, creating a custom library, and selecting all the interior furnishings.

The heart of the project revolves around a large open area combining the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The occupants wanted a space for contemplation with a direct connection to the outdoors. A sitting area set up near the large windows offers several seats facing the Lachine Canal, allowing residents to observe the changing seasons. The addition of curtains on all exterior walls creates a vaporous texture, softening the industrial character of the windows and creating a more intimate atmosphere.

The palette of materials and colors has been carefully chosen to create a warm and timeless atmosphere, where light and landscape play a central role in the experience of the space. The Saint-Henri project offers a bright, soothing interior that is deeply rooted in its urban and natural context.
